About Brittany Rose Catalano

Thank you for finding interest in my profile, my name is Brittany, and I\'m a young opera singer just trying to find my way in the world. I\'m living in New York City, where I\'ve lived my whole life, still discovering new people, new music, new inspiration, and new purpose. I have high admiration for the classics, but I\'m far from traditional. As introverted as I may be, I have a fiery intensity that I channel my deepest emotions through from time to time. I\'ve come to realize that the stage is my most liberating and accepting outlet. I\'ve aspired to be a singer my entire life, never knowing any other reason for being me. I found opera when I was accepted into a performing arts high school. My voice began to transform and expand into a bombing, rich mezzo instrument. I developed a curious fixation with trouser roles, admiring the skills of high trouser performers such Elīna Garanča and Alice Coote. Some characters I\'ve come to love include two upcoming roles I will be performing with New York Opera Forum; Ruggiero from Händel\'s commonly-performed Alcina and Hänsel from Humperdinck\'s take on the childhood story, Hänsel und Gretel. I\'ve also studied roles such as Cherubino from Mozart\'s \"Le nozze di Figaro,\" Gonoud\'s Stephanno from \"Romeo et Juliette,\" Prince Charamant from Massenet\'s \"Cendrillon,\" and various others. Over the last six year, I\'ve worked with dozens of coaches and teachers all over NYC as well as in multiple young arts program such Queens Summer Vocal Institute, Miami Summer Music Festival\'s Apprentice Program, Manhattan Opera Studios Winter Festival, and most recently, OperaWorks Emerging Artist Program. I have the incredible pleasure of being under the tutelage of Arthur Levy while I pursue my BMUS in Voice Performance at Mannes College The New School for Music.
