About Brittany McGruder

Serving as a Principal through hurricanes, a pandemic, virtual learning, freezes, and other crises has continued to teach me that our work is people work. Staff, students, and their families are at the core of our work, and despite any challenges that come our way, the determination and the passion of our people is what allows us to be successful. For me, school leadership is fundamentally centered on relationships. The heart of the culture I work to build is our connections with each other and our students, creating a sense of community through understanding, communication, and celebration.

   I have served YES Prep Northline since 2017 as the founding Principal. We are the home of the Revolutionaries, made up of 80 staff members and over 800 students and their families. Located in the Northline community of Houston, we are driven by graduating passionate, equity-driven citizens who lead and serve in their community. My team and I have worked tirelessly over the past 6 years to strive for excellence, achieving one the highest attendance rates in our district, showing growth in test scores even though the pandemic year, and building a joyful and celebratory school culture.
