ABOUT BRITTANY AKKURT

Seasoned professional in learning & development, facilities management, and program management- What I\'m Doing: Collaborating with cool humans in the industry of mechanical contracting, specifically working in education and training programs. The role has all of my loves - education, member engagement, and leadership development. I also have the opportunity to advise two incredible groups - the Board of Education and the DEIB committee. Outside of the 7-4, I\'m still dragon boating with my team (check us out - The Seattle Flying Dragon Boat Club traveling whenever possible, and smothering our two cats with love- What I\'ve Done: Residence life is the role-of-many-hats; facility management, staff management - including hiring, training, and evaluation, budget management and oversight, hiring, customer and client service, DEIB initiative development, and program management for events, processes, and unit tasks. just to name a few. All this with a short journey into Career Coaching as well - with the goal to equip students with the tools to gain employment in a role that not only pays the (college) bills but more importantly allows them to thrive- What Motivates Me: Being helpful to our members and the team as we work towards achieving our goals to create a more inclusive and involved community in mechanical contracting. Identifying ways to enhance processes and strengthen the work. Firm believer in the 1998 Classic of the Fish Philosophy of \"Play,\"\"Make Their Day,\"\"Be There,\" and \"Choose your {positive} Attitude\" to help make a successful workplace environment and positive customer experience.
