About Britt Trucksess

I\'m an undergraduate at the University of Virginia majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Statistics on the pre-med track. I\'m currently conducting research in the Spencer Lab, where we study the molecular mechanisms of Group B Streptococcus (GBS) pathogenesis and the role of the Type VII Secretion System in immune modulation, colonization, and neonatal infection. This experience has deepened my interest in how microbial factors influence systemic and neurological disease, particularly in vulnerable populations like infants.In addition to my research, I’ve worked as a medical assistant at Herndon-Reston Allergy Partners, gaining hands-on patient care experience and shadowing physicians in a clinical setting. At UVA, I’m a P2L Calculus Tutor, Social Sundays Coordinator for Autism Allies, and serve as my sorority’s Inter-Sorority Council delegate, roles that have strengthened my communication, leadership, and organizational skills.I\'m passionate about the intersection of medicine, human development, and social impact and I am excited to continue building experiences that prepare me for a future in clinical care and research.

   Serve as Inter-Sorority Council Delegate for my Alpha Phi Chapter, advocating for fairness, facilitating collaboration between all 14 chapters, and organizing events advertising community engagement, sisterhood, and a welcoming environment for all members. Engage in bi-weekly meetings with representatives from all sorority chapters to promote inclusivity for all departments.
