About Britney Mendoza Olvera

As a first-generation Latina, I bring cultural fluency and a grounded perspective to DEI and student success work. That background informs how I approach community building, interpersonal dynamics, and the systemic barriers that shape outcomes for underrepresented populations. My goal is to work alongside first-gen students, low-income families, refugee and immigrant populations to expand access and improve opportunities — both locally and globally. Advancing equity for these communities is where my experience and purpose align.

1. Program Coordinator

   Kessler Scholars Program - Syracuse University

   Oct 2025 — Present

   Actively encourage and recruit students to attend First-Generation and other campus events, activities, workshops and programs through in-person and virtual presentations and social media outreach- Serve as an informal mentor and advisor for students who access the Intercultural Collective- Meet with Kessler Scholars periodically throughout the year to provide holistic guidance and support- Assist the Director of the Kessler Scholars Program in supplying leadership and support for Kessler Peer Mentors and the Kessler Advisory Board- Contribute to Student Experience initiatives that foster an inclusive, supportive, and accessible environment for all students- Partner with coordinators and other staff of the Intercultural Collective in support of the programs and events of the Center for International Services, Disability Cultural Center, LGBTQ Resource Center, and Belonging and Student Success.
