ABOUT DAVID SMITH

I have a wealth of UK and international experience gained over 30 years in business. I enjoy the creativity of marketing and driving the successful development of profitable business growth. My experience and achievements in a wide variety of businesses, together with my enthusiasm for the developing potential make me an effective and competent business partner, who welcomes a challenge. I enjoy people and achieve great satisfaction from seeing a team successfully execute a deliberate and well constructed marketing strategy. As a British citizen, I have travelled extensively in Africa, through the Philippines and the Americas. My career has taken me from the UK to Uruguay, Europe and the USA. I am passionate about International trade – it is an increasingly important dynamic in our world and I seek new challenges, to contribute to organisations that wish to take advantage of the opportunities trade creates My eyes have been opened to the issues and opportunities of Financial Inclusion. The poverty that pervades the developing world is exacerbated by the lack of effective financial services. No banks, no competitive services, no long term return blight the lives of almost 5 billion people. The combination of business opportunity, technology and forward thinking regulation will allow the power of money to work for even the most disadvantaged in our societies - making the world a safer richer place. I have recently been appointed Chairman at the British African Business Alliance, where I am responsible for a strategy that stimulates business, investment and development through the empowerment of private sector businesses in both the UK and Africa.
