ABOUT BRIJITTA BINU MANNOOR
I was a part of IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program conducted by The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) from January to April 2025. This initiative provides free tax filing assistance to eligible community members.As a volunteer I helped individuals who generally earn or less, those with disabilities, and people with limited English-speaking abilities. In my last role as a Tax Associate II at KPMG - KGS in Kochi, India, I have gained practical experience in preparing US federal, state, and local tax returns for partnership firms and resident alien individuals.My responsibilities were to prepare 1065 and 1040 returns in tax software and tools like GoRS, OIT and CCH, researching various tax issues, regulations, and policies to ensure compliance and identify potential tax-saving opportunities. This role has enhanced my ability to review financial records and documentation meticulously, organize and maintain tax-related documents efficiently.Working closely with team members, I have contributed to the timely and accurate completion of tax returns and suggested improvements to the tax preparation process.
