Reporting to the Director of Finance Operations, manages cross-provincial Canadian payroll (including Quebec), taxable benefits, DC and DB pension, payroll accounting and reconciliation. Assures compliance to government legislation and company policy. Works closely with and supports the HR and Finance teams, provides knowledge support to HR for UKG system protocols. Initiates and implements process efficiencies for continuous improvement. Supports employees and management pertaining Payroll and Benefits and related policies. Selected accomplishments: Utilizes UKGPro (Ultipro) HRIS/Payroll system. Manages full payroll cycle for ON, BC, AB and QC through to year end production for T4, T4A, Releve 1. Successfully Initiated and implemented processing and reporting efficiencies, e.g. automation of Excel spreadsheets using formulas. Troubleshoots and resolves system issues, takes lead on UKG system knowledge. Liaises with UKG developers and recommends system efficiencies and improvements. Creates management, HR and analytical reports using UKG Business Intelligence Cognos. Successfully supported Finance team for annual budgeting and audits, and liability GL reconciliations. Successfully researched and cleaned up benefits discrepancies for payroll taxabilty and GL reporting. Improved GL reconciliation files, providing concise and meaningful data. Works closely with HR regarding implementation of HR/payroll projects. Researches current and new CRA regulations for presentation to management.
