WORK HISTORY
Visiting Lecturer @Edinburgh College Of Art
Since 2012, I have been working with both Undergraduate and Post-Graduate students of Illustration and Graphic Design delivering projects, seminars and workshops in Book Art. An example is a project called \"A Room of One\'s Own\", to first year students of Illustration. The general focus of this illustration project is word and image, with a more particular focus on the development of the individual creative voice of each of the students, through the medium of 3D \'Poem-Objects\' and Artist\'s Books. In 2014, I worked on a unique project with MDes Students of Illustration, called \"Lexicon Box\", which was designed to help in the development of highly specific vocabulary for their Master\'s of Design project proposal, using visual techniques. Aims of the Lexicon Box Project included that of making a physical structure – called a ‘Lexicon Box’ - out of a process of exploration into and consequent expansion of the vocabulary that students felt to be pertinent to your particular context, connecting with both their main Research Proposal and their supporting Almanac, or Personal Journal and to allow the physical building of the above artefacts to mirror the building of an extended vocabulary, on which each student could then draw for subsequent writing assignments, using words as a material.
