About Bridgette Carr
I am a clinical professor of law at the University of Michigan and the founding director of the Law School’s Human Trafficking Clinic (HTC). The HTC was launched in 2009 and was the nation\'s first legal clinic devoted to providing comprehensive representation to victims of human trafficking. I represent victims of human trafficking from both the U.S and abroad in a variety of legal matters. In addition to my work with clients in the United States, I’m working with partners in Mexico, Ethiopia, Colombia, Argentina, and Brazil to create a global network of human trafficking clinics. I authored a casebook on human trafficking and regularly provide human trafficking training to law enforcement, government officials, and healthcare providers, and consult nationally and internationally on the issue of human trafficking. In addition to my legal practice, I am a trainer and consultant on sexual assault and human trafficking. My experience in representing individuals extends beyond the courtroom; as I equip law students and legal professionals with the essential skills for ethical, compassionate, and trauma-informed interviewing, investigation, and trial advocacy techniques within the state, federal, and administrative systems.
