About Brian Virtue

Professor in Leadership and Peace Studies, Change Agent, Meditator, and Coach (Leadership, Crossing Cultures, Conflict, Personal Development, Chronic Anxiety, Marriage & Family) I provide timely leadership and facilitate deep learning that helps leaders, teams, and organizations experience strategic, relational, and personal transformation in ways that lead to renewal, reconciliation, adaptive change, and organizational health.I live in Long Beach, CA but I am currently a full-time faculty member teaching Leadership and Peace Studies courses at the International Graduate School of Leadership in Manila, Philippines. My PhD dissertation explores the factors that influence leadership negotiation across power asymmetry to result in flourishing outcomes and processes for all parties. The comparative study included organizational leaders in Southeast Asia as well as in the United States of America.My time at the International Graduate School (IGSL) included 7 years as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and as the Director of Leadership Development and Human Resources. I helped lead a task force that led an organizational reorganization (20••••17) and also had the opportunity to lead IGSL\'s strategic response to the pandemic crisis in moving the school online (from 0 to over 70 online classes in 6 months).I have taught at IGSL for 10 years, 8 of which involved living cross-culturally in Manila with my family. This involved teaching and mentoring students from over 40 countries in the Global South. We returned to the U.S. due to the impact of the pandemic and the Philippine lockdown on our kids\' education, but have continued to teach online and through trips for residential intensives. I spent the 10 years prior to IGSL doing cross-cultural training, leadership development, and team development for international and ex-pat teams as well as in Asian American and multi-ethnic contexts through the Worldwide Student Network and Epic Movement of Cru.
