Projects I have worked on recentlyWrote a simple Dashboard UI PoC using AngularJS 1.0 and Bootstrap.Put together an OAUTH2.0 PoC using Scala, MySQL, Slick and Akka Http.Hacked up a TLS handler in Scala that supports chained x509 certificates using BouncyCastle.Built an IoT backend that supports secure MQTT using TLS with Scala and Cassandra.Decided to write an IoT backend in C for fun using Libevent and prepared statements to MySQL. Added metrics using Statsd, Graphite, and Grafana.Investigated Facebook\'s HTTP webserver Proxygen. Compared the performance of Proxygen with Colossus using stress test tool wrk.Played around with Akka clustering and Akka Http. The PoC uses an in memory cache and a pub/sub mechanism for cache invalidation.Spent time thinking about scaling persistent MQTT connections and wrote a PoC using HAProxy, Moquette (MQTT broker in Java) and Netty. Added a Kafka Publisher/Consumer inside the Moquette server that acts as a MQTT/Kafka bridge. Hacked around with Lua in HAProxy to support stick tables and routing MQTT client ids and x509 certificate CNs.Wrote cloudinit scripts for AWS EC2 to automate deployment of clustered services such as RabbitMQ, Zookeeper, Kafka, Cassandra, and Neo4J on Ubuntu 16.04.Things I like to work onI like to finish a top-k PoC that uses Spark structured streaming and Kafka.Complete a PoC for top-k that uses KStreams and KTables. A Netty server acts as an endpoint to access the KStreams KeyStore atop Rocksdb.Investigate using Presto to perform ad hoc SQL queries on generated RDDs.Past experiences* 6+ years software development experience in numerical and data analysis software* Strong background in applying algorithms for practical use, particularly least-squares data fitting and non-linear optimization* Working knowledge of statistical methods including Bayesian inference, MCMC, and simulations* Considerable experience producing visualizations for data analysis such as plots and images
