ABOUT BRIANNA SCHUYLER

I am currently the Director of Digital Product at the Access to Energy Institute in Berlin. I help to organize the team that\'s working on providing visibility of data in organizations who are increasing energy access across Sub-Saharan Africa, both internally and to governmental and non-governmental organizations. Our work currently covers many aspects of energy access, including rent-to-own solar systems, minigrids, and productive use appliances.I previously led the data team at ENGIE Energy Access (a combination of Fenix International, Mobisol, and Power Corner). They provide rent-to-own solar panel systems to allow people access to energy off the grid. We used machine learning, experimentation, data analytics, and data visualization to help guide decisions related to system health, product design, and customer acquisition and retention.I occasionally blog about data science and other fun projects on my website Prior to my career in industry I was a fellow at Insight Data Science, and before that I worked as the Co-Scientific Director at the Center for Healthy Minds at UW-Madison. In that position I helped oversee the research of several graduate students involving the analysis of neuroimaging data for a number of NIH-funded projects. I also conducted my own research regarding the temporal dynamics of brain response to emotional stimuli.I have a strong background in Statistics, Experimental Research, Python, R, and turning data into actionable insights.
