About Brian Medavoy

I have worked as a theatrical talent manager in Los Angeles, California, since 1990. A longtime theatrical talent manager for Hollywood actors, I strive to help clients achieve career and life goals and provide resources that enable their development. I\'ve worked with a number of respected actors early in their careers, from Maria Bello, Jason Bateman, Jenna Elfman, Josh Brolin to Ryan Reynolds. My diverse client list includes Sarah Wayne Callies, Paula Patton, Bella Heathcote and Daniel Henney. My roots in the film industry run deep; my father Mike was a respected producer who co-founded Orion Pictures and chaired TriStar Pictures. I worked my way up the ranks within well-known talent agencies and entered the production sphere in 1994 with the development of “Sweet Justice,” which starred Melissa Gilbert and Cicely Tyson and then went on to produce 8 other television shows.I achieved success through developing the ABC comedy “Dharma and Greg” and producing the long-running NBC comedy “Just Shoot Me.” In 2001, I won a Primetime Emmy for American High on PBS. I subsequently took a hiatus from the entertainment business to live in Whitefish, Montana. Returning to Hollywood in 2008, I teamed up with Alan Nevins of Renaissance Literary and Talent in guiding my own management firm and then re-joined with Erwin More to re-boot More/Medavoy once again. I share a passion for Louis Armstrong with my client Reno Wilson, and together they are creating a one-man tribute show that incorporates dancing, music, and entertainment. I am also producing a movie set in the music world for Warner Brothers. I was one of the founders of 360 Management and am proud of their success.

    Jan 1990 — Present

I have been in the entertainment business for nearly 25 years. In that time I\'ve helped to craft the early careers of actors such as Ryan Reynolds, Tobey Maguire, Josh Brolin, David Schwimmer, Jason Bateman, and Maria Bello, among others. In 1994, Medavoy and More made the move to producing projects for our clients, beginning with the television series Sweet Justice starring Cicely Tyson and Melissa Gilbert. Over the next few years, I produced nine pilots including The Single Guy, starring Jonathan Silverman, for NBC and Getting Personal with Duane Martin for Fox. We also developed the hit ABC comedy Dharma and Greg starring Jenna Elfman. This led to signing an exclusive producing deal with 20th Century Television where we later produced Just Shoot Me, which aired for seven seasons on NBC. More-Medavoy merged with powerhouse managers Susan Bymel and Evelyn O¹Neill in to form Talent Entertainment Group. Under our combined banner, TEG continued to represent A-list talent as well as to develop film and television projects for their clients. One of those projects, the highly acclaimed PBS series American High, garnered Medavoy an Emmy award for Outstanding Non-Fiction Program (Reality). The documentary series followed fourteen students from Highland Park High School in Illinois for one year. I took a leave from the entertainment industry and moved to Whitefish, Montana in 2005. I returned to Los Angeles in 2008 and formed Medavoy Management the following year. Currently partnered with renowned literary and talent manager Alan Nevins of Renaissance Literary and Talent, we are producing the upcoming E! mini-series about Patricia Gucci, the daughter of fashion visionary and entrepreneur Aldo Gucci.
