An independent safety survey found that I increased employees\' confidence in the Employee Concerns Program by a statistically significant amount.At Southern Company, in Regulatory Affairs, I was a policy and licensing advocate before the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Department of Energy, and Congressional Staff. In addition, I engaged in licensing proceedings before the NRC for both the Vogtle new builds (Part 52) and the legacy fleet (Part 50). While on the Vogtle project, I pioneered an effort to streamline licensing changes (allowing a 50.59 process on Tier 2* amendments), saving the project substantial time and money.For ten years I was a trial lawyer and made hundreds of successful appearances before juries, judges, arbitrators, mediators, and agencies. I took more than twenty jury trials and sixty bench trials to verdict. My areas of practice included employment, civil rights, business litigation, regulatory, torts, and family law. Notable achievement: the U.S. Supreme Court granted my certiorari petition in an employment case.(SCOTUS grants certiorari to < 3% of civil cases.) Prior to that, I was an associate at Morgan Lewis in its Nuclear Energy section, advising on regulations and litigating whistleblower cases and complex business claims (including a one month jury trial).Before becoming a lawyer, I served in the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear Submarine Officer. During this time, I was awarded the Navy Achievement medal twice (management, engineering) and the Navy Expeditionary Medal.
