About Brian mac McElaney
Engineering team manager and product executive with over 25 years of experience developing web applications - including over a decade leading distributed multi-disciplinary product teams for organizations ranging from early-stage startups to established enterprise organizations.As an executive I’ve managed and mentored both individual contributors and other managers on teams up to 100 across a spectrum of disciplines to include engineering, design, design research, and product management. I have experience in both strategic and tactical planning – defining both campaign-level objectives as well as managing KPIs to support those campaigns. I also have experience working in a wide variety of environments ranging from “scrappy” startups to the high rigor of highly regulated industries including Healthcare, Finance, and Government.As an individual contributor I’ve worked on everything from ecommerce platforms and event ticketing systems to operating systems and healthcare equipment monitoring systems. I’m a polyglot engineer with experience in a wide array of data persistence, object oriented and functional programming languages including C#, ElasticSearch, F#, JavaScript, Mongo, Python, Perl, Redis, Riak, and Scala – however since 2016 the bulk of my code has been written in Ruby and Elixir on Postgres and OTP.
