About Brian J. Valentino

I’m Brian J. Valentino, CEO & Executive Director of the Western Monmouth Utilities Authority (WMUA), leading a mission-driven public authority focused on environmental excellence, strong governance, and long-term performance.I also serve as a Director on the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) National Board of Directors, helping advance national clean water priorities through practical, utility-led advocacy. My leadership lane is executive thought and long-range strategy: turning values, vision, and mission into results that hold up under pressure—regulatory, operational, financial, and political.A core passion of mine is building the next generation of leaders. From Scouting to the Fire Service to the public sector-our society thrives under the leadership of smart, effective, moral, principled, trustworthy leaders. To that end, I helped found the Environmental Professional Development Academy (EPDA), designed to professionalize and strengthen the clean-water workforce through practical, cross-functional development. I also serve as Second Vice President of the Association of Environmental Authorities (AEA) and Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Township of Ocean Sewerage Authority.Outside the utility world, I’m an instructor/mentor with deep service roots: fire service experience since 1983 and a lifelong Scouting America leader, National Outstanding Eagle Scout Awardee, and national leader in Safe Scouting and Scout Safeguarding. But my favorite outside servant leadership roles are serving as a volunteer firefighter and as an Assistant Scoutmaster to my son\'s hometown troop. If you’re working on utility leadership, workforce development, governance, readiness, or cross-sector partnership, let’s compare notes.“Leave the ladder down.”
