About Brian Cohen

I lead field research at Deccan Value Investors, a global concentrated long-only equities investment fund. Our investor base consists of university endowments, foundations, and other long-term-oriented investors. Investing with a concentrated portfolio allows us to do intensive research and analysis. We focus on high-quality businesses with deep and defensible moats and will often follow companies and industries for many years.With over a decade as an investment professional at both long-only and long/short funds, I’ve developed the \"investigative journalist\" approach to research. I use my curiosity, creativity, and drive to continuously learn and improve. This endeavor has positively and significantly impacted both my personal and professional life. I enjoy speaking to and building relationships with thoughtful and knowledgeable people across all levels of industries. I always strive to conduct sincere two-way dialogues. It\'s a great privilege to repeatedly immerse myself in understanding new businesses and converse with smart and accomplished people.I started my career on the accounting side. I was at PwC for about ten years, first as an auditor and then leading financial due diligence on M&A deals. One of my proudest achievements is being recognized with an award for achieving the highest score on all four parts of the NY State CPA exam. I have since gone on to become a CFA charterholder. Outside of work, spending time with my wife and kids is where I\'m at my happiest.
