About Brian Billstrand
As a freshman in college I attended a guest lecture given by an industry leader in chemical engineering. He mentioned his approach to be successful in any venture, he said to start by understanding what your job truly is, master that job, and finally innovate upon it. I have taken this to heart and have applied this to my career as an engineer. This simple process has given me opportunities beyond what I could have imagined. Including exciting student research projects, owning my own startup company, winning the University of New Mexico Business Plan Competition, building a production line for space based solar products, and most recently building high efficiency next generation building integrated solar products. As an engineer I love to solve problems and find excitement and innovation in every project I work on. There is an opportunity to learn in every venture even if what I learn is something I had no intention of learning in the first place.
