About Brian Yamauchi
Highly-experienced roboticist specializing in autonomous navigation for mobile robots. Over 25 years of experience designing, developing, and integrating software systems for autonomous robots. My goal is to develop autonomous robots that are useful and can be turned into successful products. I\'m open to both technical lead and principal-level individual contributor roles. I\'m particularly interested in positions that combine influence on product direction with hands-on robotics development. I believe in working in a way that is highly interdisciplinary, with close coordination between software, electrical, and mechanical engineering and product design.I\'ve worked on a wide range of robotic applications - from robot lawnmowers to autonomous vehicles to industrial floor-cleaning robots, from R&D for military robots to a robot for inspecting the Space Shuttle. I\'ve also worked in a variety of settings, from consumer product companies to research labs to NASA centers, with sponsors and partners ranging from DARPA to John Deere to VC investors.

Member of the Starpath leadership team responsible for all software development at the company. Building a software team to enable end-to-end lunar ISRU - including the autonomous rovers that will navigate from the Lunar South Pole to the permanently-shadowed regions of nearby craters to mine icy regolith, the plant that will convert the regolith into LOX for refueling lunar landers, and the solar power tower that will provide energy for the entire system. Focused on developing long-range, high-speed, autonomous navigation capabilities that will operate reliably on the Moon.
