I daily inspect and conduct preventative maintenance on a wide variety of hospital industrial systems, including domestic water pumps, compressors, and vacuum pumps. I also maintain an automated pneumatic tube transport system that connects many hospital departments. The emergency department sends blood samples to the lab for analysis. All departments get drugs from the pharmacy. Paperwork is collected or distributed to and from the Medical Records department. Central Supply sends specialty supplies quickly wherever they are needed. I am also on call every weekend to get the system back online in the event of any issues. This is an electromechanical system controlled by a central computer.
