About Brian Thysens

Personal Accomplishments1995While at Betz, I convinced Exxon Refinery to bid out their water contract. Exxon had never bid this business before. My bid was less. Although, I was not awarded the business, Nalco management fired the sales rep. 1996While at Betz, I took Western Sugar Billings away from Nalco. Nalco had never lost a sugar plant before.2002While at GE Water, I helped the South Bend team get the University of Notre Dame water contract from Nalco. I asked George Oliver (President) to make a sales call on our behalf to help persuade our case. Notre Dame was Nalco\'s oldest account.2005Best job. As a Regional Sales Engineer on the New Product Initiative (NPI) Team at GE Water, I helped 200 reps in five (5) midwestern states and Eastern Canada make their sales plans. I had three (3) consecutive years of bringing in new accounts (82). I lead the team in new sales growth 185% vs the team average of 103%. In the last year (2005), I exceeded forecast by 101%($781,85•••08When I worked for Praxair, my competitor (Air Liquide) told me they called me the \"Rainmaker\".2014While at Baker Hughes, I helped us hold on to the BP Cherry Point water contract for five (5) years, before Nalco\'s unprofessional tactics won in the end.2013While at Baker Hughes, I wrote a scathing turnaround report for the P66 Ferndale Refinery. I pointed out they had forty (40) unscheduled heat exchanger cleanings. This cost GE Water had this account for twenty (20) years. It was worth We were awarded the Process business. The P66 Technology Manager was so embarrassed that I exposed his arrogance and incompetence, that he awarded the water contract to another supplier. 2015While at Baker Hughes, I was considered a SME in WW. I was asked to be the next national Technology Manager. Against advise from various Application Engineers I accepted a transfer to Minnesota to stabilize our WW business at Flint Hills Resources. I did my job, but Baker had burned \"too many bridges\" to keep the account. They lost everything. I had to find a new employer.2017Solenis pulled me in to stabilize the Marathon Canton Refinery, when they were vulnerable to losing it to Chemtreat. We were successful.2020As a Senior Account Manager with Solenis, I now cover NE Ohio. The previous rep left me with a mess. I stabilized all the Lubrizol plants, added Brecksville. I added Green Meadows Paper, they had Chemtreat for the last 10+ years. Stay tuned for more business to come.

I took a lateral move to cover the local territory of customers and prospects. In this current business climate, it’s better to have a lot of customers under your name rather than a 100% sales role working on a long list of prospects with varying degrees of interest.
