Brian is a highly accomplished, proactive, and award-winning journalist who has made the move into public relations as a media relations director, leveraging his more than two decades as a reporter and manager for The Associated Press. He has an unparalleled talent for making the complicated simple, deep media contacts and an overall love for storytelling. Prior to his shift into public relations, Brian covered many of the biggest stories in the country, including 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, the sexual misconduct investigation and resignation of former Congressman Mark Foley, the BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs scandal that led to the resignation of then Secretary Eric Shinseki, wildfires, and mass shootings, among other major news events and scandals. He most recently managed AP’s on-the-ground video coverage of the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting.Brian has hands-on and management familiarity across formats having worked in text, photos, and video, and a deep understanding of the growing digital media landscape. He is skilled at supervising staff remotely or in person under extreme deadline pressure with a proven record of success. He also is the author of two books.
