Responsible for underwriting National Account Excess Casualty products. Underwriter some of the most complex, global, and diverse companies based in the U.S. Develop and manage underwriting strategies for both renewals and prospects for a large portfolio of accounts. Develop and implement negotiation strategies. Make independent sales calls to market and cross-market products. Provide technical direction to management, less senior specialists, producers, and claims adjusting personnel. Became a resource to the entire team for coverage interpretation, manuscript development, and general underwriting guidance. Communicate risk appetite and National Account Casualty Value Proposition to brokers and clients. Collaborate with Distribution, Territory Managers, and other line(s) of business underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross selling opportunities. Rapidly evaluate, prioritize and select submissions to be underwritten. Work with brokers to understand the deal structure, terms, and AIG Services that best meets clients’ needs. Review, evaluate and make recommendations to underwriting guidelines and process to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Conduct internal underwriting audits to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, strategies, and reinsurance. Participate in special underwriting projects where my experience and expertise are needed. Trained several new members to the team. The experience level of each new team member varied from limited to no experience to more experience individuals. Needed to implement different training techniques based on their knowledge base and way of learning.
