Based in the SMJV Calgary office, Brian supports major infrastructure bids and active projects through environmental leadership, specialist input, and systems development. Throughout this role, he works closely with estimating, construction, and project management teams to integrate environmental risk management into overall project delivery

Environmental Lead with over 16 years’ experience delivering large scale pipeline and energy infrastructure projects across Canada and the UK. PMP certified, with a strong construction and project management background and a proven ability to integrate environmental management, regulatory compliance, risk, and constructability into project bid development, planning, and execution.Brian began his career in Ireland in hands on roles across agricultural contracting and civil construction while completing a BSc in Environmental Science at University College Cork. These early roles provided a practical understanding of ground conditions, construction methods, and site delivery. Joining Murphy Group in 2009 marked a defining step in his career, transitioning into major infrastructure projects of scale and complexity. Murphy provided the platform for long-term professional growth, with Brian progressing through increasingly senior environmental and project facing roles while contributing to the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects across the UK and Canada.Most recently, Brian served as Environmental Lead on the Trans Mountain Expansion Project, where he managed environmental risk at scale on one of Canada’s largest infrastructure projects. In this role, he worked closely with construction, project management, and client teams to support safe, compliant delivery in highly regulated and environmentally sensitive settings.Since completing Trans Mountain, Brian has been based in the SMJV Calgary office, supporting major project bids and active projects. He works closely with estimating, construction, and project management teams to develop environmentally informed scopes, assumptions, and bases of estimate that reflect real-world construction constraints and regulatory requirements. His project management approach focuses on risk identification, interface management, and practical execution, enabling environmental requirements to be effectively integrated into overall project delivery.As a Certified Agrologist (P.Ag.) and Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), Brian provides specialist support to active projects, including projects such as the Eagle Mountain Project, through the development of Project ESC strategies and the review of ESC layouts. He is recognised for his collaborative leadership style, strong systems mindset, and ability to add value across both planning and execution phases of complex construction projects.
