ABOUT BRIAN NUSSBAUM

As someone who spent a lot of time in a therapist’s office during my formative years, I have become familiar with many modalities of psychotherapy, some more effective than others. These parts of my past, as well as my own lived experience, ultimately led me to become the therapist I am today. I am grateful for the growth I’ve made and continue to pursue both personally and professionally. I believe true growth occurs on a holistic level and my therapeutic approach is trauma-focused, integrative, and affirming of all identities (race, gender, sexuality, religion, ability, physical difference). I incorporate different psychological theories while providing clients with somatic and skill-based interventions. I am EMDR- trained (as recognized by EMDRIA) and find it to be an incredible vehicle for healing trauma and self-discovery. Many of us are able to talk about various aspects of our lives yet continue to carry the heavy emotional burdens of our past. Through EMDR, we are able to revisit and rewire our nervous system’s response to past stimuli, creating lasting change that allows us to let go of the past and integrate it into the present. I work to empower clients with the knowledge and understanding that all individuals have an inherent capacity to heal. The real therapeutic work is developing the strength, courage, and vulnerability to not let the past define the present, to be willing to approach life from a different perspective, and to hold oneself accountable. I am incredibly passionate about the work I do and my hope is as my clients and I work together, they begin to live a life that feels more authentic, aligned, and true to the person they are becoming.
