ABOUT BRIAN MELTON

Brian D. Melton serves as Senior Vice President for External Relations and Special Assistant to the President for the Cristo Rey Network. The Cristo Rey Network is the largest association of non-profit, co-educational Catholic high schools in the United States exclusively serving economically disadvantaged students. Brian served as General Counsel and then Chief Legal Officer of the Cristo Rey Network from 2015 through 2023. Brian also served as Interim President of Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep from September 2021 through April 2022. From 2013 to 2017 he served as project lead on the organization of the Cristo Rey Institute, a Public Juridic Person (PJP) of Pontifical Right, and as Executive Director of the Cristo Rey Institute from 2018 to September 2020. Prior to joining the Cristo Rey Network in 2013, Brian was a founding partner of Shackelford, Melton & McKinley, LLP, a Board Certified attorney by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, listed in Best Lawyers in America and in Texas Monthly Super Lawyers. Brian\'s background in education includes serving as Chair of the Education Task Force of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Community Symposium for Justice in Education of the Dallas Bar Association, Member of the Advisory Council of Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, and Board Chair of St. Rita\'s School. In his legal career Brian served as President of the Dallas Bar Association and Chair of the Dallas Bar Foundation. Brian\'s civic involvement includes serving as a Member of the Talent, Education and Workforce Advisory Council of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Committee for a Qualified Judiciary, Trustee of the Dallas Theater Center, Chair of the Dallas Arts District Alliance and a Director of the Dallas Arts District Foundation.
