An AI pioneer who has been at the forefront of data science, machine learning, and leading-edge AI technology companies for over three decades. At VQ Capital, focused on innovating and investing in the next-generation of AI-native businesses that will be category leaders in the Era of Compounding Change.As the Co-Founder and CEO of Plunk, introduced a new evolution of analytics via the first generative AI-driven analytics platform for the world’s largest asset class-residential real estate.Prior to Plunk, founded one of the largest mobile AI companies, Medio Systems, supporting 440+ million consumers in over 100+ countries. In 2014, Medio was acquired by Nokia (HERE Technologies), and joined as its Chief Technology Officer. As CTO lead a worldwide R&D organization and spearheaded the company’s primary technology roadmap and strategic direction including product innovation, research, and overall AI technology development and strategy. Previous to HERE, spent much of my earlier career leading groundbreaking analytics and data-driven systems for companies including IBM and Junglee, acquired by Amazon in 1998. At Amazon, created the company’s first large-scale AI & data analytics platform, formed its analytic infrastructure and integrated Junglee’s recommendations engine into Amazon’s data-driven consumer UX and predictive analytics system – which ultimately today drive 30+% of Amazon sales. I also lead a fintech spin-off from Amazon, Intelligent Results, applying real-time NLP & predictive text analytics-decades prior to the advent of LLMs-to build an improved FICO score that was acquired by First Data Corp (FDC).While earning a Masters and Ph.D. candidacy at Stanford University in Computer Science, in 1995 I co-founded with fellow student Sergey Brin \"Mining Data at Stanford\"(MiDAS), the research lab where we incubated the Google crawler and search engine. Prior to Stanford, founded my first company, Micro Revelations, an early pioneer of AI-driven PC computer games, acquired by Electronic Arts.A recipient of both the prestigious National Science Foundation and Department of Defense Office of Naval Research Graduate Fellowships, I have the honor of being a key industry thought leader and author of numerous professional publications and patents. In 20••••09 became a member of the World Economic Forum, selected as a technology visionary pioneer for innovations in mobile-optimized AI. Today I invest-in and have board positions in tech companies and am a member of the Founding Board of the University of Washington Information School.
