About Brian Humphreys
For more than two decades Brian has directed communication and leadership practice at international public and private entities. In addition to his focus on global strategic communication, he specializes in national security policy and technology advancement. Brian leads international communications for Northrop Grumman, having previously guided NG’s aeronautics systems, autonomous systems, JADC2, C4ISR and international aerospace communications. He joined Northrop Grumman in 2013 from Saab Sensis where he led their US marketing and public affairs.Prior to relocating to the United States in 2012, Brian directed communications for Northrop Grumman Australia, was a senior contributor to the Australian Defence Business Review, as well as an author and consultant on defense public affairs.Between 2009 and 2010, he was the Senior Advisor, National Security to the Australian Minister for Home Affairs. From 2005 to 2009, Brian was Managing Director of Humphreys Communication Group, a consultancy whose clients included: the Royal Australian Air Force; Australian Federal Police; Defence Materiel Organisation; Northrop Grumman Corporation, Joint Logistics Command, Saab Systems; the Defence Support Organisation; and the Chief Information Officer Group. From to 2005, Brian was Director General, Communication Strategies and Public Affairs for the Australian Department of Defence. There he was the architect of the first overarching communication strategy for the Army, Navy, Air Force and defense agencies and oversaw communication strategies for major domestic and international operations.From 1996 to he directed communications at Australia’s Defence Science and Technology Organisation. In 1992 he joined the Department of Employment, Education and Training where he went on to lead corporate communications. Brian started his career as communication advisor to ministers of the Government of Western Australia (WA) and WA-based members of the Australian Parliament.
