One of the world\'s leading experts in the field of Optical Security and associated creative and technical design. Inventor or co-inventor on over 75 patent applications covering holography, diffractive optics, micro-optics, plasmonic meta-surface and thin film interference devices. Awarded multiple business innovation awards. Charted Engineer, Chartered Physicist & Fellow of the Institute of Physics. Over 30 years\' experience in the design, origination, materials development, manufacture and application dynamics of high security holograms or DOVID\'s, Micro-Optics, novel reflective microstructures, nanostructures and other forms optically variable technology. This experience has covered the domains of Currency, Transaction cards, Brand Protection, Fiscal Stamps and Display technologies. Directly involved in the design, origination and materials development associated with more than 1500 Diffractive OVD\'s or holograms covering Currency, Brand, Fiscal stamps and Financial Cards. Appointed as De La Rue\'s first Technology Fellow & Chief Scientist in recognition of my status as technical and creative design guru within the domain of Optical Security Features. High level of specialist expertise in the areas of OVD design, holographic & diffractive devices, micro-optical devices, UV cast cure replication, thin film interference effects, micro printing & micro patterning, foil constructions, replication and application technology. Proven excellence (for over 2 decades) in the areas of team leadership (Imaging and R&D), technology and product roadmap construction and management. Recognized within De La Rue as one of the few scientists or technologists with strong commercial and strategic acumen. Technically led a project to design, manufacture and commission into De La Rue, a new Micro-optic manufacturing platform utilising synchronous UV cast cure relief formation and micro printing. Technically led a project to conduct the final profiling, surface polishing and Gold coated, to Angstrom precision, a EUV spectrometer developed by the University of California (see and launched on the 1992 Space Shuttle. The inventor or co-inventor of Pure Image™, Active™, Kinetic Starchrome™, Depth™, Dual Image™, Spotlight, Combigram™ and OVMS.
