About Brian Eckerle
Brian Eckerle, Captain, U.S Navy (retired), serves as the Vice President and Division GM Maritime Power and Energy Solutions (MPES)- a Division within the L3Harris Maritime Sector and Integrated Mission Systems Segment. MPES Division is made up of seven sites: MPES Anaheim CA, MPES Philadelphia PA, MPES Tulsa Oklahoma, MPES Gardena CA, MPES Norfolk, MPES San Diego, MPES Jacksonville. MPES Division consists of 1500+ employees who design, develop, qualify and manufacture Electrical Power Conversion Equipment, Electrical Switchboards and Load Centers, and various electrical distribution equipment for US and International Surface Ships and Submarines.Previously, Brian served as the Senior Director (CHENG) for the L3Harris Maritime Sector.Brian also served as Irving Shipbuilding\'s Vice President, Canadian Surface Combatant Engineering where he was responsible for all aspects of Irving Shipbuilding\'s Combat System and preliminary design efforts to execute the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) Program.Eckerle brings more than 30 years of acquisition and operational experience, while serving as a US Navy Destroyer Commanding Officer, Defense Acquisition Major Program Manager, Senior Military Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Research, Development and Acquisition) and as a Vice President at SBG Technology Solutions, providing Professional Acquisition and Engineering Services to the Department of Defense.Prior to joining L3Harris Technologies and Irving Shipbuilding, Eckerle served in five U.S. Navy Surface Combatant Ships including his tour as new construction commanding officer aboard USS STERETT (DDG 104). While ashore, Eckerle served in several NAVSEA program offices most notably as NAVSEA 21 PMS 400F, the program manager responsible for the maintenance and modernization of over 100 surface combatant ships. He also led the cruiser and destroyer mid-life modernization programs where he was directly responsible for the execution of a five-year program budget in excess of $10 billion.Eckerle holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Post Graduate School – Monterey, California and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. He is also a certified Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Level Program Manager.
