Brian Busey is a Senior of Counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. Mr. Busey’s practice focuses on complex intellectual property matters – particularly those before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). Mr. Busey has litigated approximately 70 Section 337 cases before the ITC and has served as the president of the ITC’s Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Busey is also a member of the Sedona Conference Steering Committee on the Patent Litigation and Damages Working Groups (WG9/10). In addition to his active ITC practice, Mr. Busey has handled cross-border patent, trademark, and trade secret disputes in federal district court and before alternative dispute resolution tribunals. Mr. Busey also has counseled clients concerning intellectual property licensing issues and represented airports and airport proprietors in major administrative and court litigation. Mr. Busey is a frequent speaker and author, both in the U.S. and in Asia, on ITC practice and procedure. Mr. Busey has been recognized as a leader in ITC practice by Chambers USA (2014-18) and by Chambers Global (2014-16), in patent litigation and ITC by Legal 500 US (20••••16), in intellectual property and patent litigation by Best Lawyers in America (20••••18), and in litigation and ITC by IAM Patent (2014-18). He was recognized as the top lawyer in Washington, D.C. for intellectual property by the Washington Business Journal (2009). Mr. Busey holds a B.A. and M.A. from Georgetown University and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. While earning his law degree, Mr. Busey was an editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. He was a law clerk to Judge John H. Pratt of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
