ABOUT BRIAN BUCKLEY
In 1990, shortly after college graduation, I became a public school teacher in New York City through the Teach New York program. I then joined the United States Peace Corps and served in northeast Thailand from 19••••95 (extending one year). Stateside now, I became a teacher on the Navajo Nation thought the United States Peace Corps Fellows Program at Northern Arizona University. From I was honored to be invited to serve as a Teaching Fellow at Harvard University for Dr. Robert Coles and his fabled class - The Literature of Social Reflection - where I received the Derek C. Bok Distinguished Teaching Award. In 2004, I founded the Southwest Native-American Foundation (SWNAF) based on the talented students I taught on the Navajo Nation who lacked funds to continue their education. Twenty years into the work, I continue to seek donors and partners who wish to propel the dreams of students from the various tribes of the southwest.
