Passionate and dedicated nutritionist and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) specializing in maternal and infant health and lactation. With a deep understanding of the unique nutritional needs of mothers and infants, I am committed to improving the well-being of families through evidence-based nutrition education and lactation support. Throughout my career, I have worked with numerous supplemental and child nutrition programs, including the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), School Breakfast Program, National School Lunch Program, and Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). In my present capacity as a nutritionist with the WIC, I work closely with high-risk expectant and postpartum women, and families of infants and children, guiding them in making informed decisions on healthy pregnancy/family planning, breastfeeding, and making healthy dietary choices to ensure optimal health for their families. Additionally, as an IBCLC, I provide lactation and breastfeeding expertise by providing guidance and support to mothers considering breastfeeding and those who are facing difficulty meeting their breastfeeding goals through personalized strategies and evidence-based recommendations, I empower mothers to overcome obstacles and create positive breastfeeding experiences. With my unwavering passion for public health and a strong desire to effect positive change, I plan to pursue a Master\'s in Public Health (MPH) with a focus on public health policy and health equity. My ultimate goal is to contribute to the enhancement of national public health outcomes through evidence-based policies and interventions via child and supplemental nutrition programs. I aim to specifically impact child and supplemental nutrition programs as by obtaining an MPH degree, I hope to impact a vast majority of average people residing in the United States. With continued education and experience, I aspire to improve the gaps in policy and reality of those who are impacted by child and supplemental nutrition programs policies, such as addressing policy gaps as it relates to inflation, food deserts, and socioeconomic/environmental barriers to optimal nutrition, and lack of access to these program for people fall just outside of the federal poverty guidelines. I hope to aid in improving policies that reach the people who would benefit most and optimize the health and well-being of the most vulnerable populations.
