About Bria Knowles
Every day is a bit different at Sound Transit - I love the amazing people I get to work with, and their brilliance, mission focus, heart and commitment so frequently on display as we work to deliver the largest transit expansion and infrastructure project in the country. My work with the FBA department and Executive Leadership team is both challenging and fascinating in its mixture of need for complexity in some areas, and need for simple solutions in other areas. I also appreciate my work history and the perspective it provides - including invaluable exposure to great managers and colleagues. Fundamentally I am a solution-focused person and I appreciate finding that trait in others. Clear communication is key to resolving many of an organization\'s challenges, and I am a careful listener - always looking to understand both the spoken and unspoken messages in a situation. My prior work in transit technical environmental and planning work and also consulting as part of two successful firms across a broad range of industries continues to help me be practical in seeking solutions to process, communication and compliance challenges, and realistic in both the strengths of business tools and management systems and their limits.My leadership focus is on people and inclusion competency, quality product, addressing the root cause of challenges and finding common ground, meeting deadlines, and fostering efficient teamwork. I am a systematic thinker and management system expert: Extensive ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) and OHSAS 18001 Safety Management System (SMS) implementation experience. I appreciate the clarity that strategic use of technology can bring. I was a successful environmental consultant displaying rapid growth, effective proposal writing, demonstrated customer satisfaction and consistent client retention.I am bilingual in English and French but will admit that my French is now quite rusty! I\'m a dual American and Canadian citizen.
