About Brett Miller
Over the past 17 years, I’ve worked in complex environments and emerging markets, with a focus on distributed energy, commercial real estate, and critical infrastructure. My strength is translating complexity into actionable strategy while building systems that carry ideas into execution.Today, my work centers on battery storage and microgrids—decentralizing the grid from a hub-and-spoke model to a more resilient, web-like network. Much of this effort focuses on rural communities, where ski areas have emerged as particularly promising real estate. At the outset of my career, I scaled and acquired the largest company in Timor-Leste, a team of unarmed staff protecting the UN Peacekeeping Mission and critical infrastructure. I later founded Myanmar’s first facility management firm, growing it to 750 employees before its acquisition by a $2b global leader in the sector. These experiences—operating at scale, under uncertainty, and across borders—influence how I work today: building resilient systems, aligning stakeholders, striving for cognitive diversity, and delivering execution where it matters most: vulnerable populations.
