In fifth grade elementary school I received an award for “Most Helpful,” from Mrs. Portugal. Although beaming with pride as I walked to the front to get my Big Certificate, I didn’t really believe her. Now, over a 30 year career, various general management roles and a couple different industries, I’ve come to realize that I really just enjoy helping people, in whatever form. This is what truly floats my boat. Turns out Mrs. Portugal was very wise indeed.
