At TingleMerrett, Brett is a Partner, Senior Counsel and head of the Litigation group, providing the firm\'s clients with corporate, commercial and dispute resolution advice and conducting investigations, litigation and arbitration matters. Under my direct supervision and leadership, Tingle Merrett now provides full litigation services. I am accompanied by two extremely talented lawyers, Amy Cooper and Heather Richardson-Nicol, and a student-at-law, Ngozi Aghanya. Three paralegals ensure timely delivery. We advise various corporate clients, including boards, independent committees, investors, shareholders, providers of venture capital, creditors, and management teams regarding the resolution of their disputes. A prime focus is on intra-corporate relationships, fiduciary duties, and governance both in good times and near insolvency. For many corporate clients, we have conducted internal investigations in matters of fraud, employment, and securities breaches. We have also coordinated issuer responses to investigations by the ASC, and other investigations by regulatory and administrative bodies, including the Public Interest Commission, the Law Society of Alberta, the University of Calgary, the College of Psychologists, certified Public Accountants, and various other public and private entities. We have broad experience in professional misconduct matters, having represented various professionals before their regulators, including psychologists, doctors, dentists, lawyers, accountants, actuaries, and veterinarians. We offer specialized defence advice in securities litigation and other regulatory matters. In particular, we defend individual or corporate respondents, both during the investigation and as counsel at hearings on the merits. We have provided expert opinions and expert advice in various disputes, including regular participation offering corporate law and litigation advice in family and matrimonial property law disputes.
