When I look at who I am as a leader and a person, it all falls back to the golden rule. I would want to be treated the way I treat others. This has proven affective in my leadership style. I can be direct if that is what is required for the conversation, but also live the values of mutual respect, trust, excellence, integrity, and accountability. I believe expectations need to be set up front and then follow up needs to occur consistently to make sure that staff know the expectations were created to help move the unit to accountability, and most importantly improve patients experience and satisfaction. I would love to move to an inpatient unit and use the skills I have learned in my current position to improve accountability, morale, and ultimately patient safety and experience.
