Mr. Bret Bartlett retired from the Tampa Police Department with over 31 years of service. He has leveraged the experience he gained during that time in founding Ex Umbra Defense Solutions, a Florida Company specializing in Private Investigations, Firearms Training, Executive Protection and Private Security. Bret is a Certified Firearms Specialist, available for consultation for both government and private attorneys.He is a member of ASIS International, the preeminent organization for security professionals. Bret holds the prestigious certification as a Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) with ASIS. He is also a member of the Florida Association of Licensed Investigators and holds a certification with that organization as a Florida Board Certified Investigator (FBCI). Bret has many years of experience in teaching firearms and firearms related topics to civilians and police officers. He is certified as a Firearms Instructor with the State of Florida Criminal Justice Standards & Training Commission (CJSTC) and holds numerous training certifications awarded by the National Rifle Association. He is a Certified Firearms Specialist (International Firearms Specialist Academy) and a member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors. Bret holds state of Florida licenses as Private Investigator (C), Security Officer (D), Firearms Instructor (K), and Statewide Firearms. Ex Umbra Defense Solutions is licensed by the State of Florida as a Private Investigative Agency (A) and Security Agency (B)Bret is an Instructor for the International Firearms Specialist Academy (IFSA), and Adjunct Professor and High-Liability Instructor at Hillsborough Community College.
