About Brent Stroh

I\'m an IT leader with experience across the full SDLC - software delivery and testing through production support and disaster recovery for mission critical systems and infrastructure. I have also led technology teams implementing process enabling technologies in the ITIL space and the CI/CD space. Most recently, I\'ve been working in the IT Operations space, including project delivery, application, and system support.My success, and that of the teams I\'ve been fortunate enough to lead, has often come from following two simple principles. Put in the work up front to avoid more work later on, and let computers do the work so people have time to think.Working up front could be as easy as building reports to put information in front of people rather than making it something they have to spend time retrieving. It could be automating the calculation and delivery of manually derived monthly metrics. It could be investing time in test automation up front to make in-sprint and regression testing a matter of seconds later.Leveraging automated regression tests for production validation lets the computers do the heavy lifting so the team can figure out where to improve the validation coverage. Automating incident detection and remediations requires an investment of time up front, but pays off in reduced customer impact and severity later.Giving the right team enough time to stop and think about how to improve their own lives is an easy way to drive continuous improvement.(Background image courtesy of Matt Santomarco, used under Creative Commons license.)
