Mr. Matthews oversees the development and implementation of plans and policies for budgeting and resource allocation, and the scheduling, execution and monitoring of the “margin of excellence” and “high impact” practices associated with these programs. Within the scope of his responsibilities, he coordinates and integrates the activities of all administrative support agencies and offices, thirteen academic departments, supporting activities of the West Point Alumni Association and other benefactors, sister service academies and foreign institutions. Additionally, he coordinates similar support as needed for the academic and administrative requirements of visiting international students. His position demands in-depth knowledge of institutional strategic plans and visions, up to date information on standards, institutional requirements, and international travel regulations. He attributes his success in this position to extensive international experience and the ability to turn ideas into action and goals into achievements.
