I am an effective and efficient litigator who has gained an impressive record of success in several difficult areas of expertise, including business torts, contract claims, premises liability, sexual-abuse litigation, and agricultural law. I am adept at quickly getting up to speed on relevant facts and law and developing a sound litigation strategy for addressing same. Over the years, I have led teams of attorneys and support staff in both large, bet-the-company litigation, and smaller disputes. Among other highlights:• I was part of a small team that won a jury trial which ranked among the top 100 verdicts handed down by U.S. juries in that year—approximately $60MM. The extraordinary result came after years of hard-fought litigation, including an enormous and complicated eight-week trial against one of the largest firms in the country, followed by a protracted appeal.• After a full trial, I drafted a lengthy brief which convinced a bankruptcy court to slash its award against a client by approximately $350MM, leaving the plaintiff to just a small fraction of the damages it had sought.• After securing a full summary dismissal of a multimillion-dollar liability claim against a client, I convinced a non-party to indemnify the entirety of the client’s fees.Prior to Kirton McConkie, I spent several years working in-house where I gained significant experience in transactional and regulatory matters, among others, while continuing to litigate.
