ABOUT BRENNA BOEHMAN

I study modern carbon cycling to inform our understanding of the global carbon cycle within the context of climate change. At Sinkco Labs, I am driving science and tech innovation to increase carbon storage in marine sediments for a safe and scalable carbon storage solution. I am passionate about environmental and social justice, and interested in advancing an equitable approach to climate resilience, investing in adaptation strategies, and divestment from fossil fuels to meet 1.5 C warming goals. I am interested in advancing policy grounded in science and equity. My PhD research focuses on carbon cycling at the interface of terrestrial & marine systems, using organic geochemistry techniques such as biomarker analysis and isotope ratio mass spectrometry. Specifically, I quantify the residence time and export of terrestrial carbon mobilized by globally important rivers (Amazon, Ganges-Brahmaputra-Padma) from land and assess the fate of the organic carbon in marine sediments.
