ABOUT BRENDON BLACKSON
I am a second year History Masters student at Morgan State University. As the Walter B. Hill Archival Fellow working with the Banneker-Douglass-Tubman Museum (Maryland State Museum for African American History & Culture) on the Verda Freeman Welcome Project I have gained experience in archival best practices, appraisal, processing, and records transferral along with remediation of moldy materials using best archival preservation practices endorsed by Maryland State Conservationists and seasoned archivistsAs a researcher for the Lillie Carroll Jackson Civil Rights Museum. I presented my research on behalf of the museum at the Association of African American Museums Conference, analyzing Clarence Mitchell Jr.’s impact on the Voting Rights Act 1965. I have honed my proficiency in land record research, census data research, digitization and archival research.I am also the Education and Program Coordinator for the International Franchise Association and oversee daily tasks pertaining to the Certified Franchise Executive Program which includes member and candidate outreach, supporting members, as well as completing crucial processes through Salesforce and our Learning Management System, IFA Academy.
