My practice involves assisting oil and gas producers, pipeline transmission companies, telecommunications companies and electrical utilities in regulatory matters. I am experienced in providing strategic direction throughout the course of a project, including advice on stakeholder consultation requirements and assistance with the preparation of regulatory applications. In the course of this work, I often collaborate with technical specialists in many other disciplines. I have acted in numerous hearings and judicial proceedings, including matters before the Energy Resources Conservation Board, Alberta Utilities Commission, British Columbia Utilities Commission, British Columbia Environmental Appeal Board and National Energy Board. I have also appeared before the Alberta Court of Appeal, British Columbia Court of Appeal and Federal Court of Appeal.I have practical experience in many of my clients’ industries. I have been seconded to the regulatory department of a major Alberta electrical utility. Prior to that, I also worked for a boutique Aboriginal law firm, was a Field Inspector for the Alberta Energy & Utilities Board, and was a Field Operator at a major heavy oil extraction facility.I bring an Indigenous and international perspective to my practice. I am a member of one of Alberta’s largest Cree Indian Bands, the Saddle Lake First Nation (my Great-Great Grandfather Onchaminahos or “Little Hunter” was a signatory to Treaty 6). I have lived and worked overseas in New Zealand and Australia. In New Zealand, I contracted for the Ministry of Maori Development (Te Puni Kokiri). In Australia, I was a policy advisor for the Western Australia Department of Justice.
