About Brenda Whetstone
I’m fascinated by people and I like working on puzzles and problems. My background as a Music Therapist developed my ability to think about things from different perspectives and build relationships with people. My education in Landscape Architecture taught me to layer things, look for opportunities and constraints, and then to ideate solutions. My work in the nonprofit sector exposed me to communities facing numerous ongoing hardships and inspired me to become more aware of challenges and work collaboratively on solutions.Learning about UX was a light-bulb moment. The things I enjoyed about my past work - working to understand people’s motivations, behavior and emotions; trying to align design with people’s needs and abilities; iterating solutions to pain points - are all a part of what I love about UX - and are skills I’ve used throughout my career.I find particular joy in the middle pieces of UX—wireframing, and analyzing user research data to identify patterns, user pain points and opportunities. I would love to make connections and work on projects that support accessible design; optimize workflows to enhance user-friendly interactions; and prioritize enhancing the user experience for marginalized communities.
