I don’t like getting in trouble. Who does? Maybe it’s why I’m a bit of a stickler when it comes to rules, guidelines and policies. My mission to prevent trouble serves me well in my role as a regulatory adherence advisor and drives my desire to further my career in compliance.Why compliance? It allows me to combine many of the skills honed in my professional and post-secondary education- Interpreting laws and government regulations? Did it in law school- Effectively communicating important information to others? Did it as a journalist- Finding and remedying potential regulatory issues and inconsistencies? Did it as a regulatory adherence analyst- Answering complex legal questions or inquiries? Did it as a court clerk.Identify with the more mundane aspects of the working world? I’ve entered data into Excel spreadsheets until my eyes bled, struggled to keep up with my inbox and cut down thousands of digital trees in the form of Word Docs. Most importantly, though, I’ve worked hard everywhere I’ve been and strive to go above and beyond what’s asked of me – and try to bring a little laughter along, as well.
