ABOUT BRENDAN BUCKLAND
My love for education solidified while completing a Spanish teaching apprenticeship at the High Mountain Institute semester program in Leadville, CO. After that, I served as Dean of Residential Life and as a Spanish teacher at The School for Ethics and Global Leadership (SEGL), a residential semester school for high school juniors in Washington, DC. More recently, I completed the Klingenstein Program for independent school leadership at Teacher\'s College, Columbia University. After graduation, I served as a founding faculty member and administrator in SEGL\'s semester program in partnership with African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg. I have years of experience coaching students from around the country through academic challenges and transitions to new and demanding learning environments. Helping students identify existing strengths to practice wellness and balance serve as crucial preconditions to learning. I collaborate with students to build these strengths and build executive functions to overcome attentional difficulties as well as other neurocognitive challenges in order to succeed. For fun and during my breaks, I lead educational trips abroad to some of my favorite places: South Africa, the UK, Cuba, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua.
