About Brendan Humphrey

The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”This line sparked my passion for engineering as a kid, and it still drives me today.I’m a mechanical/product engineer focused on building wellness hardware that helps people feel and live better. At Plunge, I work on improving existing products and am leading the full development cycle of a next-generation product, from design and prototyping to validation, UL preparation, and factory builds.I’ve had the chance to wear many hats and grow quickly, stepping into broader responsibilities as the team evolved. I enjoy solving problems hands-on, collaborating with suppliers, and refining designs to be reliable, manufacturable, and user-focused.I also consider myself a “glue guy”. After experiencing the long hours of a startup, I know the people and energy around you are everything, and I aim to contribute positively to the culture wherever I go. I’m motivated by learning, improving every day, and helping create products that make a difference in people’s lives.

   I lead engineering development for a next-generation wellness system, carrying the product from early industrial concept through detailed design, prototyping, UL readiness, and manufacturing build-out- Own UL regulatory readiness, including electrical safety architecture, material qualification, and standards documentation- Driven multiple controlled prototype cycles, creating validation criteria, performing performance evaluations and component-level failure analysis, and issuing ECOs to improve thermal performance, usability, and manufacturability- Completed solo trips to Asia to lead factory builds — identifying mechanical, electrical, and process risks and driving resolution directly with manufacturing partners- Execute ECOs, CAD revisions, BOM updates, and prototype tests to enhance the durability, reliability, and assembly efficiency of current saunas.
